Unemployment data represents 2002 annual average not seasonally adjusted.

Department of Education Data

In cities/towns that are members of a regional school district, Public High School Dropout data is the same for all communities that are members of the district. In a small number of cases, a community has no dropout data.

Projected 4 Year Dropout Rate is defined as the percentage of ninth graders projected to drop out over a four-year period. For more information, visit: www.doe.mass.edu/infoservices/.

Department of Public Health Data

Teen Births Under 20 Percent was calculated using birth characteristics data. Teen Births Under 20 Count was divided by the count of resident births. Resident births is defined as births to mothers who report their usual place of residence as a particular geographical place (state, or city/town).
